This is a small thing but still something that bugs me. I was watching one of
the Vista demo videos and it seems there is suppose to be a link to the
search folder on my start menu. The first time I used the "windows/f"
shortcut it brought up google search (google desktop came preinstalled with
my computer) so I went to "default" programs and made windows search the
default program and now the search folder comes up but I can't find a way to
put a link to it on my start menu. I have tried going through the list on the
start menu "customize" section but it's not on the list. I have Vist Home
Premium if that makes any difference. Thank you for any help you can give me
with this aggrivating situation.

You don't need any link, just press windows key and type in your search item
and it will appear as if by magic

The search box should be there by default - when you click on the Start
button, doesn't the Search box appear at the bottom of the Start menu? It
does here...

The search box does but the "Seach Folder" isn't. As I said it's a minor
thing and as
housetrained said all I have to do is do the short cut (windows/f) and it
pops up. thank you both for your writing back.

If you actually prefer an icon on your start menu, just create a shortcut
somewhere
(right-click in a folder or on your Desktop, and select NEW\SHORTCUT),

then enter search-ms: (including the colon) as the location.
Give it a Name (Search),
and drag that shortcut to the Start button and it will show up on your Start
menu.

I think that the search link you are referring to was removed with the Vista
Service Pack 1.
That is probably why you see it in the demo video but not on your computer.

I found a web site that may help...
