The following registry folder stores the links to Shell Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Use
Shell Folder
To create a new shell folder shortcut, create a String Value and inpu
the path to the target in the Value of the new registry key.
For example, let's say you had a folder calle
C:\Users\MadMarv\Software\ and you wanted to get to it quickly just b
typing "Software" into the address bar of Windows Explorer.
1. Open regedit and navigate t
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Use
Shell Folders
2. Click on the Edit menu --> New --> String Value
3. Type in "Software" for the name of the new registry key
4. Double click the new key and enter "C:\Users\MadMarv\Software\
into the Value field.
5. Close regedit
Now, Windows Explorer will take you directly t
C:\Users\MadMarv\Software\ whenever you type Software into the addres
bar, whereas before this registry hack, it would launch the default we
browser and enter "Software" into the browser's address bar
