Hi nyc79,
Can you try a couple things?
1. Use the word wheel to search for your contact in Messenger. If your
contact shows up, edit the contact and make sure the Instant Messaging
Address is filled in on the General section.
2. Or, go to Hotmail and see if your contact shows up there. If so, make
sure to check the box to Use this Contact with Windows Live Messenger.
