When I purchased my computer, I recieved a tv tuner card already installed in
my computer. I finally added a cable box to my computer, I did everything
correct when hooking up. The problems come when i am trying to change the
channels with my media center remote. I get all the way up to the step that
says trying inputing a station you have with three digits, and I try it, but
it doesn't automatically change like it should. I have to use the remote that
came with my cable box, and press the channel or use the guide, but I can't
just use my media center remote like I should. What am I doing wrong? The
other problem I have comes with recording, since I am guessing that I should
be able to use my media center remote, I am unsure of how to record, now that
I have added a cable box. All the stations work, but I have use my cable box
remote to change the stations, and I can't record. I try and change it with
my media center remote, it says that it changed to channel to whatever I
input, but the picture stays the same to whatever channel the box is on. How
do I fix this? I follow every step correctly and it doesn't work. Help!

see
http://digitalmediaphile.com/index.p...top-box-setup/

the above is for dual boxes, but follow it for a single box.

you need to get the MCE remote to change the channel. recording won't work until
you do.

check to see if the sticker of the IR blaster is positioned correctly on the eye
of the set top box receiver.

what brand and model set top box? how is it connected? what tuner?
