Right now i'm useing vista beta 2 bulid 5384. It's the first vista bulid i've
ever used. I've notice that the welcome screen doesn't have a clock. I think
it would be a great idea to have a cock for those who arn't loged in and have
the welcome screen up, they can tell what time it is. i under stand the Alpha
bulids ( 3xxx ) had a clock. Why was that feature removed?

Because it is more commonly part of the Sidebar.

Most people wear wrist-watches, so I do not see the need of having a
clock on the welcome screen to tell what the time is.

I stopped wearing a watch when I started wearing a Cell phone with a
time display.
How hard would it be to include the time on the pre-logon screen saver
/ login bar? Sure would be a lot more useful than just the floating
"Windows" tm

Having the login screen display a clock is nice - after all people do
usually install wall clocks in their offices. This would be just a form
of wall clock, essentially.

You "wear" a cellphone?

That would be pretty trivial. You can set the scrolling text screensaver
to be a clock, but it won't be a nice analog one. That's the main
problem. I guess you could download a 3rd party clock.

Well the early 3xxx bulids had one, why was it removed?

plus you have it in the sidebar, taskbar, why not add it to a 3rd spot in
the OS?

Haven't worn a watch in years. Cell phone gives me the time and I don't have
to change it when I cross time zones. That said, I see nothing extravegant
about the poster's question or desire to have a clock on the Welcome screen.

It may not be needed to have a clock on the login screen, however there
should be an option for people who do want it. It should at least be in some
part of the code, that way skinners can add the feature to their login if
they choose to do so.

I expect they considered any running code before the login to be a
security risk and that's why it was eliminated. Although, if a hacker can
upload a compromised clock to the system, then I'd say the system is
already compromised.

It would be nice to hear the back story on the clock though.
