Hope this is the right place to post this?

This is my first experience of adding a mac to a domain of which I've
successfully adding to AD.
My question is now that i've set up a domain account on the mac do I have to
manually copy the desktop and local files over from the local account to the
domain (mobile) account compared to a Windows account which would ask you to
select a local profile to carry over therfore the desktop and my documents
are all there?

I've attempted this myself and never got it to work just the way I thought
it should. In the end I settled for having the thing connect, auto-mount
the network resources the user always has used, with all the passwords
stored in the keychain, etc.

The SBS console doesn't know what to do with the mac, but it doesn't get
agitated about it.

So--I left it using the local account, in the end.

I had a nice step by step, but I think my issue in the end was I couldn't
get the domain account to authenticate properly, but the local one was able
to enter and store credentials that worked just fine.

So--in your case, if the domain account works well, I'd copy the desktop
stuff and user files over manually--not sure whether there might be some
process to do that say, when adding a new user on a Mac.

Thanks Bill for the input.

I just followed sop from the pages of sbs2k8 unleashed which worked but
obviously doesn't go into depth.

So like you i have one acount with a local account with access to the server
an I've recently configed another mac (10.5) as an AD member although now i'm
having issues with configuring Entourage with Exchange but that's another
story.

Cheers.
