Adding a Windows 2000 Server to Existing SBS 2003 Environment

I have a different question that pretains to a post that I created earlier
this week. I purchased SBS 2003 back in January and it is now installed and
running smoothly. Before I was running SBS 2000. When I purchased SBS 2003
I did not purchase the upgrade, I bought it from scratch. Is it possible to
install Windows Server 2000 without the SBS additions and use it as a extra
server on the same network as my SBS 2003. If I remember correctly, when you
install SBS 2000 the operating system install is the same as Basic windows
server 2000. Then maybe I could use that that to install my Blackberry
Enterprise Server. Just trying to save money.

Afraid you're out of steam on this one Allen. The Win2K portion of SBS 2000
cannot be installed by itself on a server (even it you could find a way to
do it, it would be in violation of the EULA).

You're SOL on this. You should have bought the SBS 2003 upgrade and CAL's at
a lesser price and could have putthe savings towards a copy of W2K3 server.

You're only being ignorant if you don't ask Allen.

This are no ignorant questions in this newsgroup Allen. If you need a BES,
you'll only need to purchase a Win2K3 server license (and software). No
Windows 2003 CALs will be needed. Your SBS CALs will cover access to the
Windows 2003 portion of the server.

Is it possible to use windows server 2000 instead of server 2003? Money is
the the big thing here and it looks like windows 2000 server is cheaper on
pricegrabber.
Thanks,
Allen

I haven't played with Blackberry (so I can only go by the docs I've seen),
but, yes, it appears that you use Win2K server if you can still get that
software. However, there is no longer any MS support for Windows 2000.

How do I go about installing the exchange admin controls on another server?
I assume I can use one of the CD's that came with my SBS 2003 package. Do
you think I will have problems installing from a SBS 2003 R2 server to a
Windows 2000 Server?
Thanks,
Allen
