Address bar on taskbar gets messed up by remote desktop

I may have posted this once in the past but I can't remember. If I did sorry.

At any rate, I have found that RDP (remote desktop) tends to screw with my
Aero enabled Vista. The issue solely relates to the Address Bar Toolbar I
have enabled on my taskbar.

I think I have isolated the exact steps to replicate my issue but I'm not
100% sure.

Here are my steps:
1) reboot my home PC (my PC is Aero enabled).
2) do not log in
3) From my work machine, RDP into my home PC. Because there was no previous
login, this RDP session is the FIRST login on the home PC
4) everything works fine in RDP. Aero is of course disabled be default when
using RDP.
5) disconnect RDP session (do not log off).
6) log in locally to my home PC

After step 6, my Address bar's text is completely unreadable. The color of
the text is kind of transparent/translucent as if it's being affected by Aero
(when it should just be black text). The only way to get it back to normal
is to disable Aero, and then re-enable it, or by reboot. A possible
logout/log back in may suffice. Didn't try that.

If I log into my home PC before going to work and then locking my
workstation, subsequent RDP sessions into the box do not have the effect
described above. It seems to only happen when RDP is the first logon session.

Any ideas how to get around this? Is this just a bug I have to live with?
Can we still submit bugs to MS regarding this? If so, where at?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

if the remote pc has vista aero glass the RDP session can also be Aero glass

read about when this applies on the links here

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I cannot run Aero over Vista as my work
Vista installation is Small Business version. Running Aero is not important
for me. What I want to know is why RDP screws up my Aero at home.

I'd have to do some more testing, but I don't think this happens when I RDP
from home to Work. Only when I RDP from Work to Home. <shrug>

Maybe because your monitors screen resolution is not equal in size to the
one at work.

I'm not quite sure how monitor size relates to how Windows decides to render
text, but every monitor I have is 19" with resolution 1280x1024. I'm sure
that's not my issue here.

Ultimately it seems like Windows for some reasons tries to implement Aero
via RDP but it screws up and ends up including the text as a component to
treat like glass.

The Computer you RDP from, on the RDP window, choose the Experience (tab)
and uncheck 'Themes'.

I don't want a bandaid solution. Turning off themes will not fix the actual
problem. More than likely what I'm experiencing is a bug, so I'm not
expecting any user to have a real 'solution'. If someone does actually have
a solution, though, I'd love to hear it.

I had a glimmer of hope that MS would actually see this thread, but I guess
that was just stupid of me lol.

microsoft ignored tons and tons of feedback from beta testers crying out in
rage about vista-to-be..
they didnt listen and the result is horrible vista,
what makes you think they will listen now?
