Administrator can't update system

I have created three administrators on my Windows 2000 server and they all
get the same message when trying to run the updates - "you must be an
administrator in order to run this check." When I click the Windows update
icon on the start menu, I get the pop up that asks if I want to run it as
some other person, the strange thing is that it shows the computer name in
the domain, instead of our actual domain. It is almost as if it feels that
this machine is not the domain controller, but just a simple workstation on
the network. Can someone help me with this one.
