I created a new thread thinking I would get more attention, my appologies
My HiJachthis log is clean because I checked it myself. I actually help
folks fix up their systems from the Hijackthis log.. I am very knowledgeable
to say the least. Been with you since Dos 2.1 so I know my way around a
system and OS.
After checking out deeper, your Windows update is ok, however that doesn't
solve my issue. There are no entries that jumps out in my Hijackthis log. Of
course my system has an issue, here is what I found and perhaps you can help.
After booting in Windows and going to the Downloaded Programs folder,
sometimes, not always, I get a weird activex control appear with a bunch of
#%$# whatever codes as for the name, the type etc... and all other activex's
are not there at all...
I'm puzzled cause no anti virus can see anything going on and I tried all of
them basically. My next step is looking for a hidden Rootkit....
I deleted all activex's in the folder at one point through Dos and ran a
reinstall like so:
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 /u wuaueng.dll /s
del /f /s /q %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\*.*
del /f /s /q %windir%\windowsupdate.log
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll /s
net start bits
net start wuauserv
wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow
did a repair:
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\atl.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\jscript.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\msxml3.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\softpub.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\wuapi.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\wuaueng.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\wuaueng1.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\wucltui.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\wups.dll
%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %windir%\system32\wuweb.dll
net start bits
net start wuauserv
wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow
I'm so out of ideas, would you have a tip where I could fool this pest
taking hold of the activex's?
I also deleted the iuctl.dll file... geez I tried so many things.
Everytime I try something, I am asked to re-download your Windows Update
activex but this pest seems to take over it at some point.
Or perhaps its simply something else completely and I haven't found it and
thats why I turn to you guys....
Its either I try things and end up with the windows update page error with
no error code or the Administrator Only page... just can't get a hold of
updates at all.
Perhaps you can enlighten me on what your activex looks for and does so I
can dig deeper into this...
example: could I get these errors if your activex wasn't installed or does
it have to be installed to get these errors?
