Administrator Only for WinME???

I use WindowsME on a MICRON Miillennia AMD T-bird Athlon 1.3 GHz PC with
512Mb PC2100 DDR-SDRAM. I have automatic windows updates enabled and have
been able to load automatic and manual updates without a problem - until
today. Today - auto update loaded the GDI+ Detection Tool update and said my
system had a vulnerability. I closed the GDI+ tool window and rebooted my
machine.

Since then, every time I attempt run Windows Update - I get an
"Administrators Only" error message. I restored my system to yesterday's
configuration - that did not help.

I have searched on the WinUP forum and knowledge base - but only find this
exact error msg applies to OSs with REAL permissions (W2k, XP, NT, etc.) -
not W98/ME!

Several articles on the WINUP forum suggest deleting the C:\Program
Files\WindowsUpdate folder. I tried that - it didn't help.

KB Article 316524 does not apply to WinME OS, but it is the type of error
I'm getting.

I have looked in the registry as suggested for other similar errors (KB
article 326686 and 228548) but these entries do not exist on my machine.

This is for WinME... not W2k, XP, 2003, NT, or any OS with REAL
Administrators!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Another cause for Administrator only message can occur if a program on your computer
is intercepting the Windows Update process.
