we hav installed server 2003 standard edition with service pack 1,the
question is while loging in with administrator its not allowing to change the
permission for user's local machine. for example user cannot access the "D"
drive and if user can access the files in it are open in readonly format.
please tell us what to do now how can we enable the administrative rights in
server 2003.

Hello Prashant,

Your description is not easy to follow. Do you work on the server or on a
client machine? Please describe more detailed how you access the d-drive.

Is the server in a domain or is it a workgroup?

Best regards
