"Adobe Flash player needs to be updated" Error Message

On my brother's Vista laptop, he's getting this message, every time Live
Messenger starts up. It gives the option to install and re-boot, which has
been done countless times.

I'm looking at it today and I've tried going to the Adobe site and
installing the Flash Player, away from Messenger. But once Messenger fires
up again, there it is again!!

Any ideas?

I'll send him the info today........ then the tomorrow he'll ask me to do it
as he finds it all too complicated!!!
