I'm using Vista Ultimate 64x and for weeks was having intermitten problems
with
Internet Explorer going offline for no apparent reason and stopped me from
accessing websites.
It took me a while to figure out the IE was responsible for 'Work Offline'
or so
I thought. I checked with Microsoft and their recommendations didn't work.
Then, when I used Mozilla Firefox, it too started giving me problems. It
wouldn't
let me access my GMail account and also started bring up a Dial-up window
asking for my Username and Password. Filling it in with the G-mail Username
and PW didn't work.
The dialer would stop and the counter would go from 60 to 0 and it would
recycle the procedure continuosly forcing me to close Firefox..
It was really a frustrating couple of months. I was blaming VISTA!!
None of the various forums brought any ideas and nothing appeared in
this NG to help.
Then I read something about Adobe Reader could be causing problems.
Following instructions, I opened Adobe Reader 8 and changed a number
of preferences. When I rebooted, the problems listed above ceased and
I haven't had any problems since.
For what it is worth.. "I apologize VISTA.. It wasn't your fault after
all!!!!"
