Ads and Videos Registry Key

I have one WLM install that does not show ANY ads and the Video Carousel
option is grayed out. But our other versions show ads and videos. What is
different about this one version that makes it not show ads or videos? I
would like to setup all installs like this in our business.

Does anyone know of a registry key that I could change to accomplish this?

Greetings,

There is no magical registry key that would do this. There are a few ways this could
happen -- firstly by something blocking access to the Messenger configuration web service
(which sets up the ads and so on) and secondly by using a patch (see one of my other posts to
you today) to remove them directly from the application.

The particular machine that has no ads was upgraded from Windows Messenger
and was installed with LifeCam WebCam software . . . so I didn't know if MS
disabled ads in WLM because I had purchased their WebCam.

Hi,

The ads do not go away because you bought the webcam.

There must be some explanation. I know when I went to download WLM as
prompted by the 1.1 LifeCam software, it took me to a different download
page than most people go to.

Version 8.0 has ads and 8.1 doesn't.

No, because I did not have ads on this machine with v. 8 or 8.1, but I did
have ads on all other machines with 8.0 and 8.1.
