If Messenger didn't display ads, then the service wouldn't exist. These browser settings
will not affect Messenger.
There are some patches that automatically remove the advertising if you wish to violate the
license agreement. I personally don't think the Messenger ads themselves are that annoying,
especially compared to popups and the songs and dances of normal web ads.
Some of the names of some patches that will do this include A-Patch and Mess Patch. A quick
web search will bring them up (I refuse to post links to them, for obvious reasons).
