Sometimes I have to reformat and then reinstall XP. This is usually
for friends' PCs which have got horribly messed up.

To save having to install XP and then SP1, I downloaded SP1 as a file
and slipstreamed it into XP and created a new installation CD.

Is it advisable to do the same with SP2 and create an installation CD
with SP2 in addition to XP and SP1?

It saves time on a reinstall if you use a slipstreamed disk. The
process of slipstreaming SP2 is the same as SP1. You can use either an
original XP or an XP+SP1 as the source disk, either way the results will
be the same.

I slipstreamed SP2 into my original XP/SP1 disc using Autostreamer (highly
recommend) and Nero Express. It couldn't have been easier and the resulting
CD is a fast way of reformatting/reinstalling Windows.
