Same issue described about an hour ago in post with subject line "Re:
Profile problems after Windows Vista Update."

I have not had that problem; hope it's not widespread.

well to be honest, i install 4 update at that time using windows update, so
there is chance that this error didnt come from KB938194, still investigating
this error by installing one update out of 4 one by one.

I have the same problem. In my case ininstalling the update didn't help and
the problem persists. Did that help in your case?

The one thing I thought to try was to locate the file containing the user
account information (like /etc/passwd on unix systems), and see if somehow a
double entry got written there. Does anyone know what this file is called, if
it exists?

uninstalling in my case, make the problem go away, but after installing
again, it show up again.
"The one thing I thought to try was to locate the file containing the user

i thought about this technic too, but can't see where vista keep its user
account info.

for now, reluctanly i installed the update, hopefully, another update in the
future will make this problem gone.

This update is not considered to be Critical. If you are having problems
with the update I would leave it uninstalled and wait for a new version to
be released. Take a look at the KB article that describes this update and if
you are not experiencing any of the problems that it is designed to fix, I
would just leave it off for now.

An update is available that improves the compatibility and reliability of
Windows Vista:

just looks sloppy. If there a specific fix i need to take off to make this
go away? Please help if possible. Thanks.

Just and FYI....I posted this problem and as it turns out, it is only seen on
Laptops running fingerprint readers with the Omnipass software. I sent a
note to their support team and there is a fix to this problem. I ran this on
my PC and the problem does not appear anymore. This worked for me so I
wanted to share this with the forum community.

Thanks for posting this fix.

Were there any specific instructions for using this download? If so, you
might want to post those instructions.
