After Email Change: Can't See Contacts & Can't revert back to old!

Hi,
I didn't the ill-advised thing and tried to change my primary email for my
live messenger from a school email to my gmail.

I tried to logged on right after I did the change and email verification
(later I realized on discussion boards that this will mess things up). It
has been rounghly 12 hours and none of my contacts are online (I'm sure some
are), and they can't see me.

I saw some discussion earlier that one could simply revert back to your old
email. I'm perfectly willing to go back, BUT Windows Live doesn't allow me
to use that domain name (school domain) for some reason.

So now I'm totally stuck. I tried to delete and add my wife's account. But
she never receives a add-on notice. So even that doesn't seem to be working.

Please help. Really frutrated with microsoft these days....Why would a
company let such a defected function exist for so long????

Jonathan Kay has a blog entry from February about this issue:
http://messengergeek.spaces.live.com...DA1!1675.entry

I believe that you may be out of luck for the switch back, so your only options
would appear to be to add all of your contacts again manually - groan - or
contact support unless you luck out and the contacts migrate over in the 48 hour
window that they suggest you should wait.

Yes I've read his thread. I actually deleted all my contacts and import a
previously saved contact file. But my next-door office-mate couldn't receive
any add-on invitation. It's also useless if she tries to add me on directly.
I also wouldn't get any add-on notice whatsoever.

Hi,

I'm afraid when you're into this "limbo" situation, readding contacts is really just going to
make the situation worse. You could check and see what's happening your Privacy list (press
the Alt key on keyboard to bring up the menu bar, chose the Tools menu, then Options and then
Privacy) and see if you can delete one your contacts on the allow list (right-click and
choose Delete, if available). If you do manage to choose Delete, you'll there is
possibility they'll receive the "add notification" when ou re-add them.

However regardless, I'd contact support for this one as they've (at least with some nudging)
been able to sort out people's accounts when they get into this state before.
