Hello!

I'm running Vista Ultimate Ed as a member of an AD domain. After installing
KB930178 I'm getting the following errors:

The Telephony service failed to start due to the following error:
A privilege that the service requires to function properly does not exist in
the service account configuration. You may use the Services Microsoft
Management Console (MMC) snap-in (services.msc) and the Local Security
Settings MMC snap-in (secpol.msc) to view the service configuration and the
account configuration.

....and...

The Remote Access Connection Manager service depends on the Telephony
service which failed to start because of the following error:
A privilege that the service requires to function properly does not exist in
the service account configuration. You may use the Services Microsoft
Management Console (MMC) snap-in (services.msc) and the Local Security
Settings MMC snap-in (secpol.msc) to view the service configuration and the
account configuration.

Also, the Windows Firewall Service will not start and Remote Desktop cannot
be enabled...

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks!

Does uninstalling 903178 resolve the problem?

Customers in the U.S. and Canada can receive technical support from
Microsoft Product Support Services at 1-866-PCSAFETY. There is no-charge for
support calls that are associated with security updates. When you call,
clearly state that your problem is related to a Security Update and cite the
update's KB number (e.g., KB930178).

In other countries, see http://support.microsoft.com/security > "No-Charge
Support...for virus and other security-related" issues in right-hand menu
for localized contact information.

For more information about how to contact Microsoft for support issues,
visit the International Support Web site:

Turns out it was a GPO thing and had nothing to do with 903178... at least I
don't think 903178 had anything to do with it...

Had to set Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local
Policies/User Rights Assignment/"Adjust memory quotas for a process" to allow
Administrators, Network Service, and Local Service. The Default Domain Policy
was setting Administrators only.
