After latest Critical Updates cannot see External Hard drive

It would appear that after installing the latest 5 WindowsXP Critical
Updates (on 17/02/06) I am no longer able (via Firewire or USB2)
to see my Maxtor One Touch II 200GB external hard drive in
Windows Explorer and hence cannot backup my data.

I am using XP Professional SP2 and have had no problem using my Maxtor HD in
the past. I have the same problem on both my PC and laptop.

I would be most grateful is anybody has any ideas?
