Hello All,
I have a win 2k pro pc it had all the latest MS patches on it. Today I
installed the latest Feb. patches on the pc, and now when I start IE I get a
dialog box that states "MS Internet Explorer has encountered a problem, and
needs to close We are sorry for the inconvenience"

The check box is checked to restart IE, but the same message comes up over
again.
The error signature is

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: urlmon.dll

ModVer: 6.0.2800.1485 Offset: 000124aa

I went to control panel to unistall the last patches, but control panel
doesn't load. The world icon at the top right of the control panel dialog
box just spins around like IE6 , but no icon are displayed.

Is there another way to back the updates out?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

MMJII

Consider yourself lucky. After appliyng all 8 updates to my admin Win2K
workstation I couldn't even bring a Windows session up. Just a cycle of
BSOD's. As for your issue there is likely a folder option chosen that views
the various explorer windows in web mode, as opposed to classic mode. You
would need to somehow change this option, since the urlmon.dll isn't playing
well.

You could search around for proper syntax for starting the various .cpl
(Control Panel) applets from a Run command line. The commands usually start
out with rundll32.exe ...blah blah blah. Good luck!

First eliminate any spyware.
What You Should Know About Spyware

CAUTION!!!!! Removing some spyware can damage the Winsock stact. Before
you try to remove spyware using any of these programs , download a copy of
LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks (all Windows
versions)

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
