After SP2 - Folder View settings do NOT Stick

After I applied SP2 to my Win Xp Pro, the folder view settings reset
themselves at every restart and sometimes sooner than that.

How to fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this will work with SP2, but should. I applied it, but yet to
see if it works. I have noticed the issue. I posted a fix that worked with

I had the same problem before (with SP1) then I made this change in
the registry, at the suggestion of someone and it worked. When
everything was working I exported and saved this key and later on
whenever I would see the settings not stick I would merge the saved
key with registry then it would start working again. Since SP2 I have
tried merging the same key again to make it work, but so far it has
not.

It is very disappointing that M$ could not fix this folder view
settings issue even with SP2. I suspect that the reliability of the
fixes that SP2 is said to contain would be just about at par with the
effectiveness of the fix it probably carried for the folder view
settings. It is only a matter of time, the truth will dawn upon us.

I've sort of noticed some issues with folders not retaining the last
settings, but paid little attention to it. I'm sure Kelly can come up with
a fix for this soon. Hail her on here, or keep up on her site:
