After SP2 getting 'application already running' windows

On my Vista 64 Bit I just installed SP2. The install went well, everything
works fine, but every time I reboot get two popup windows that both say the
same thing, which is: "Warning; Application already running"

The popup windows appears about 1 to 2 minutes after the vista desktop comes
back up. The only option on the popup is an OK button. I press it, the
window goes away and all works just fine.

This was not happening before SP2. I am at a lost on how to debug this as
the warning message contains no real info.

I tried to uncheck several items in the msconfig startup tab, but no luck.

Any ideas on how to determine 'what' application is already running?

thanks

You can download from Microsoft these two programs: Autoruns and Process
Explorer.

The first might show you if the same program is duplicated in the start-up
axis.

The second program tells you what is running now, but it is less needed,
since the Task manager can help you find several instances of one program
(use it before you click OK!). Note that it is normal to see several
instances of svchost.exe, as well some other programs - but I really can't
tell you which ones.

I just looked at Task Manager. Maybe Process Explorer *is* needed...

Wow! All these years with Process Explorer and I never noticed that.

Grazie mille.
