amd processors fix this problem?

Your computer surely has a much better chance at working with this fix
installed.

I just heard about the fix this morning. SP3 has a bug where it may
not recognize AMD processors. There is a switch in that needs to be
changed in the registry so it will recognize your AMD processor. You
should be able to boot the machine in "Safe Mode". Unfortunately, I
dont have the switch location at this time. Hope this helps

You are just now learning of a problem whose fix was published in May? In
fact, this problem was discovered shortly after SP3 was released.
It was caused by a mistake of certain OEMs.

See if this fix (in the link) will work. Follow the instructions:
'XP SP-3, HP/Compaq and AMD processor issues'

I never had the problem myself because we don't have any AMD64 procesors
in our pcs. It was just a point of discussion this morning when we were
talking about SP3 issues.
