After update messenger 2009 cannot start outlook

I'm running Vista SP1. After upgrade live messenger to 2009 from 2008, I
cannot start Outlook, the error is "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook.
Cannot open the Outlook window." I tried to repair office or start Outlook
in safe mode, all get the same error. Also I cannot uninstall messenger
2009. Anyone can help to fix this issue?

Although Outlook has some limited support for Messenger, I don't really believe this is your
real problem.

As a "quick fix", I'd recommend using System Restore to restore your system state prior to
when the problem started happening. You can do so by clicking the Start button, typing
System Restore and choosing the appropriate shortcut when it appears.

However, out of interest, why can't you uninstall Messenger?

I install the messenger on XP it works fine with outlook 2007, however on
Vista even i complete remove office and reinstall outlook, it still cannot
start. it looks outlook closes itself even beofre it gets the profile.
Anyway i have restored the whole disk image.

The 'programs and features' doesn't have an item for live messenger, so i
don't know how to uninstall it. So how to uninstall it?

Hi Royal,

You can uninstall Messenger using the 'Windows Live Essentials' option within Programs and
Features.
