Greetings,
Although Outlook has some limited support for Messenger, I don't really believe this is your
real problem.
As a "quick fix", I'd recommend using System Restore to restore your system state prior to
when the problem started happening. You can do so by clicking the Start button, typing
System Restore and choosing the appropriate shortcut when it appears.
However, out of interest, why can't you uninstall Messenger?
