Norton applications are notorious for not uninstalling cleanly. If the NAV
issues persist and Symantec Support is of no use:
1. After making certain you have a copy of your Product Key for NAV (2009?),
uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate) via Add/Remove
Programs.
2. IMPORTANT! => Make certain the Windows Firewall is enabled!
NB: You're "working without a net" now: Don't to ANYTHING else online (e.g.,
browsing; reading email; chatting) except #3 through #5 below until your
anti-virus application has been installed and fully updated!
3a. Download this removal tool to your desktop:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039
3b. Double-click in the saved file to run the tool.
4. Reboot.
5. Reinstall NAV (2009?), run LiveUpdate manually & repeatedly until you get
a "No more updates available" prompt.
6. See if the Malicious Software Removal Tool will download/run now. If
not, see if you can download & run it manually:
