After updates are intalled i get error reports in nearly every pro

I am having quite abit of trouble which i think the cause is the windows
updates,

The problem is that, everytime i acsess a certain programme an error message
comes up saying it has encountered an error, this did not happen before i
installed the updates, yet the programme still runs if i just move the error
box to the side.

I had to do a system restore so these messages would not come up everytime i
used the programmes. This began way back in Febuary 2005, I have not
installed the windows updates since,not untill now and yet it still occors!.
so i did a system restore again a day after i installed the updates and it
has not removed them,

so far the error occers everytime when i open the programes: MSN messenger,
Internet explorer, media player, and morpheus!
i do not wish to keep having to move the box in each programme every single
time i use them, i use them everytime i am on my computer.
please can you give me a solution to why this is happeneing!
