Hello All,

I completely upgraded my Toshiba Satellite laptop a couple of weeks ago,
with the latest microsoft updates.

I was then unable to run Windows DVD Maker:
"video card does not meet minimum requirements"

So, I was give the recommendation to uninstall all updates, I have done that
but the problem persists.

Under Device Manager: My display adapter "Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express
Chipset Family" has a yellow exclamation point and the device status is:
"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (Code 12)"

What can I do? Help...

If you are trying to run Vista disable it since it may not be able find 128
of available shared memory that it requires with your 945 chipset.
You can check your BIOS to find how much you have available for allocation
to the 945 card.

Are you saying that I should 'disable' the Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset
Family - display adapter?

If so... what display adapter will be used?

No I am saying that in display profiles using SafeMode you should not have
Aero enabled.
And I am saying that in your BIOS if you have the option under Video to
select how much shared memory is available that you need to select 128MB if
you want Vista Aero to work.

Sorry.. I am a little NEW to Vista......

I do notice, that my "translucent' effect is no longer active, so, I am
assuming that Aero is NOT functioning at this time.

A couple of things...

#1 I have PhoenixBIOS v1.10 and I do not see ANY video settings at all?

#2 In both SAFE MODE and REGULAR STARTUP, I can not find any references to
AERO under 'Personalization - Display Settings'??

#3 How should I proceed, and will it be possible to restore my display
adapter and have aero working - together?

thanks..

You will not see any references to Aero if you do not have 128MB of shared
memory available on your 945 system. You can check display profiles also to
see if it is possible listed as available.
Look again through all of your BIOS menus the Video options may be in a sub
menu to another menu option referring to I/O.
Also check the Toshiba Website and be sure you have their latest driver for
your laptop. The one you got from MS may be the cause of your problem.

hmmmmm....... ouch....

There seems like there must be 'some' other type of solution... especially
if it is a driver or software problem?
