After windowsupdate i cant boot

I just made a new install of windows xp on my workstation.
When i do a windowsupdate (v5) it updates/downloades a thing called "BITS"
something, after it has installed it it wants to reboot, and after the reboot
i cant boot up, right before the windows bootscreen normally come it just
says "PRESS A KEY TO REBOOT" and then i can keep on pressing a key and reboot
fime after time ...

I tryed to reinstall it twice, and everytime i do windowsupdate the exate
same thing happens! argh..

Whats the matter? i cant use windows out-of-the box now a days.

If you can get windows ( maybe in safe mode go to control
panel, system, advanced,startup & recovery, setting and
uncheck auto restart.If it was checked it should not
reboot any more.

or

My computer, properties, manage,services & applications
services, find background intel..., put it manual, or look
at the properties recovery it should say restart service
(not the computer)

and

This won't solved what's wrong but you can look in the
event log and see if any other details are there.
control panel administrative tools, event viewer.
