People please help me here, as I do not know what to do anymore - my WLM just
does not show my contacts.
I have read a lot of threads in this group, and i tried to provide as much
info as i could in my question below:

My system:
OS: Win XP SP2

My scenario:
1. I upgraded from WLM 8.5 to WLM v.14.0.8089.726 by downloading an offline
installer from the official MS site
2. After upgrade has finished i tried to log in, but i got 8007007e error (I
do not have a firewall).
3. After reading many posts in the current discussion group, I followed
Jonathan's advise and installed Contacts.msi which I have downloaded using on
of his links.
4. After installing the Conatcs.msi I could log in. Unfortunately my contact
list was empty, and a friendly message was present "Please add a contact ...".
5. After reading many posts in the current discussion group, I tried:
a) To click "forget" me and exit and restart WLM
b) To delete everything under %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\ (I do view hidden files and folders)
c) To delete everything under %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\ (I do view hidden files and folders)

6. I tried to uninstall WLM totally using WLMUninstaller and reinstalling
8.5 back and then upgrading to the latest WLM again
(following by contacts installation again)

I made sure the following:
1) 98% of my contacts have hotmail accounts
2) When logging in from a friend's PC that runs the latest WLM, I could see
my contacts
3) When logging into live.com, I could also see my contacts
4) When logging into MSN using meebo.com, I could also see my contacts
5) When WLM is running, i DO NOT see contacts when i try to go to:
action->video->show my cam
6) I do not have any other Win Live product running

When checking the logs under Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\ContactsLog.txt, I could see that WLM has retrieved
contact information from the MS server (The following is a part of the log):

[19:10:41.39] 0d30 Contacts: Storage
CContactStorage::_OnInsertContactObject@00E903C0: (store:

I also checked the \Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\\SocialNews, and I could see that the
WNResponse.xml was populated by my contact news.

So from what I see server has send contact info to WLM, its just WLM does
not load the contacts as it should.

Please help,
Alex

Greetings Alex,

Which Contacts.msi did you install? There was a newer one released last month which should
fix this issue.

You can double-check your Communicaitons Platform (Contacts.msi) installed version by heading
over to the \Program Files\Windows Live\Contacts folder, right-clicking on wlcomm.exe,
choosing Properties, then the Details tab, and checking the File version there. If it's the
14.0.8064.206 version, then you have the older one.

The latest one can be found at:

Hi Alex,

That's good - glad to know there's not yet another problem with it.
