Age of Empires Conquerors Expansion

Since installing a whole load of updates (42 or so) my Age of Empires
Conquerors Expansion disc won't work. Every time I put the disc in to load
the game I get a message telling me to insert the correct disc. This is an
original game and I can't understand why Microsoft updates should upset a
Microsoft game!!! I don't have time to check and remove (then maybe
reinstall) all the updates and my grandson is REALLY missing playing this
game. Does anyone have any idea which update might be responsible? Thanks

Sorry I don't have time to research this any further, you'll just have to
