I have wmp 11 on windows xp. I rip cd's using wav. All the album info is
visable when using wmp. If I sync with usb flash drive and play in my car the
display says album unkown. I have tried copying from the file location with
the same results. Also if I paly the files from the usb using wmp the album
art, album title is gone all that shows is an image of two musical note and
the title if the song that is playing.

This is because WAV doesn't have any support for tags, so information
like artist and title can't be stored in the actual files. To fix this,
rip to a different format that does support tagging, such as MP3 or WMA.

WMP does some tagging in WAV but only when ripping the CD.
You can’t change it afterwards

Next problem: although WAV can be tagged perfectly, there is no standard so
when you use the tagged WAV by another Media Player, it probably won’t
recognize the tags.

If you are bend on using WAV, consider a ripping program generating a WAV +
cue sheet.
My preference is ripping to WMAL (Lossless) and use transcoding when moving
the audio to a portable
