I have a new computer with Win 7 and WMP 12. When I try to rip a commercial
CD WMP doesn't locate the Album info. On the Ripping page, I can right-click
on the album cover and find the proper album under Find Album Info, and
selecting it and choosing Next brings up the correct info, but I click Finish
and nothing happens. Any thoughts on what I should doto fix this?

I tried uninstaling and reinstalling WP12 but the problem persists.

This could be caused by a corrupted media library. Try resetting the
library through Tools - Advanced - Restore media library. Note that
resetting the library will make you lose all existing play counts, and
possibly ratings too.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't solve the problem. WMP still won't
load the album info after finding the correct album.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that, but no success. Any other thoughts?

To be clear, this all happens before the actual ripping is started, right?

Are you able to edit the album info manually? Right-click (for example)
the artist of a track and select Edit.

You can also try resetting the media library manually:

- Reboot the PC.
- Go to Start - Run, type services.msc, and press Enter. In Services,
find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is
started, double-click the service and click Stop.
- Go to Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field, and
press Enter. The folder will open up in Windows Explorer.
- In this folder, rename the "Media Player" folder to something like
"Media Player old". If you can't see the folder, then it's probably
hidden. Set Explorer to show hidden files and folders, and to show
protected system files.
- Start WMP, you should now have a clean library.

Resetting the media library manually worked! (At least for the first two
albums I tried, but I'l be an optimist and presume WMP will continue to RIP
properly.) What would happen previously was that when I inserted a CD WMP
would start to rip the CD with all album info "Unknown". I could right-click
on the album logo and select Find Album Info which it would do, but when I
selected the proper album and clicked Finish, nothing more would happen.

Let's hope this continues to work properly. Thanks very much for your help
in solving this problem. You get a Gold Star!

So, I guess I should now delete the renamed directory "Media Player old"?

Yes, the "Media Player old" folder can be safely deleted now.
