Hi all,

Hope you can help!! All of my icons on the desktop have gone, including the
system icons of my document folder, recycle bin and such.

If I click on toolbars on the bottom bar (can't remember the name) I can
select the Desktop toolbar which still contains all the icons. When I try to
drag the icon to the actual desktop (off the toolbar) it shows a little
folder symbol with a green plus next to it. When I let go off the mouse
button it doesn't put the icon on the desktop. I also cannot create new
shortcuts on the desktop - but they do show up on the toolbar!!

I've run out of ideas - can anyone help!!

Craig

I can't double-check here, because I'm not by a Vista machine now (I'm
in the process of rebuilding mine, with an AMD Phenom x4 CPU), but the
procedure in Windows XP is as follows:
- Right-click the desktop
- Click the "Arrange Icons By" menu item, to open another pop-up
menu.
- Click "Show Desktop Icons" to add a checkI'll report back to you with the correct procedures in Vista, but that
will only be in a couple of hours when I'm done (This is a monster of a
machine I'm building, and I keep getting interrupted!)

Right click on desktop. Go to "View" / "Show Desktop Icons". Check it!
