All email attachments do not show

XP IE8 using Yahoo mail. Some email attachments do not show. For example with
10 jpg attachments, 5 will show and the rest will not. Instead of the
picture, a small box with a red x appears. The files are OK, because if you
right click on the x-box, you can ask to see it. Why do some show and not
all? Very incomvenient.
