Follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist to install SP-2:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm

If you still have problems post back details such as exact error message and
exactly what is happening.

Same here.

Yesterday I started my SP2 adventure:
* Read the checklist :-), and the horror stories :-(
* Formated a new hard drive.
* Did a clean install of an original Windows XP Home including SP1.
* Booted up, waited for Windows Update to send me the first two packages of
updates and patches.
* Restarted my computer, and waited for SP2 to come on over.
* It did, but I can't get it installed. It hangs after approx. 35 percent.
* Now I tried to install my antivirus program, and the same thing again.

Please help me out, greetings from Holland,

Ron

Ron
Did you activate the Windows Firewall before connecting to the Internet?
If not, then you're best off reformatting and reinstalling (unless you
already activated XP).

Noel,

Couldn't activate the Windows Firewall, because I couldn't install SP2 at
all. It died on me. This morning, I took a slightly different approach. After
formatting, and reinstalling XP Home SP1, I installed my Panda Titanium 2005
antivirus programm. Then I started to download SP2. During the download,
Panda blocked two network virus attacks. After the download, I succesfully
installed SP2. Think my prior attempts were doomed because of viruses.

Anyway, thank you.

Greetings from a SP2 migrated OS,

Ron

The Firewall exists in SP1 - it's just not activated by default, so your
system is highly vulnerable to things Like Sasser/Blaster/Nachia.

Whatever - you managed to get it right in the end, which is the main
thing! - Well Done!!
