All My Backgrounds are Gone!!!

For some reason I have lost all my backgrounds in MSN Messenger. Both
regular and dynamic. I can see them in the folder, they are all .dat type
files. I backed them all up using the MSN backup, but when I try to restore
them it will restore some, but for others I get an error message. Is there
a way to get them back short of having to download and install all over
again? And does anyone know why they would have disappeared like that?

Sometimes the database used to maintain these ends up corrupt and the content "disappears".
Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do beyond re-downloading or setuping them up.

Because of this and other problems, the store has been revamped for Windows Live Messenger
8.1. So after you've restored what you can, you might consider upgrading to 8.1 which
although in beta, will upgrade your store to the new format and allow you to easily back it
up as no more MSN Backup is required, you can just copy the folder (even to other computers).
