You need to provide your system make, model, specs, version of Vista and a
better explanation of "desktop can't be opened plus the others icons." I
doubt that anyone can get a clear idea of what you are talking about from
the little you said.

Are you certain your mouse is plugged in? Can you move your mouse cursor
around the screen?

If you're using a laptop, has your touchpad been inadvertantly shut off
software wise? On some laptop models the touchpad can be turned off and on by
depressing a contact switch.

I apologize for not explaining
the malfunction well.I used
a desktop PC.

And I hope that the screen shot that I
took for my PC shows the specification
and answers your questions.The mouse
is working well and I can move it.Thanks
in advance for all of you who is trying
to help me.

to open any of the deskto
items is by clicking right on
desktop and use either open file
or exploring it. Waiting for the solutions

I am running Vista with SP1. A week ago several icons duplicated themselves
on the desktop and did not function. I just did an auto arrange of the
desktop, and all icons were duplicated and are non functioning. I now have 16
desktop icons, 7 of which work. Any idea on how to fix, then prevent this
from occurring?

Greeg, I don't have the right click issue...the functioning icons work as
they should. The non functional ones don't react to mousing and when I right
click on them, I access the desktop preferences ( just like the icons weren't
there.) Wish I could at least right click my seemingly permanent duplicates.

should.
