All program installation are very slow

Hello,
I recently used a 3rd party uninstaller (Revo Uninstaller) to uninstall
a program that I had installed on my computer (Open Office). I think
during the uninstallation process, I damaged the computers' installer.

Ever since then, any program that I try to install or uninstall takes
an average of about 15 minutes for a small program to 4-6 hours for
bigger programs (
such as iTunes) to install or uninstall.

I don't know what to do. I'm not very technical so I'm really stuck.
This has become a real hassle.
I'm running Vista Home premium SP1 32bit. I have plenty of juice on the
PC as it is a newer machine.

Any proven method to remedy this situation is greatly appreciated.

Thank you....

While Revo Uninstaller is an excellent program, it does require caution and
a certain level of computer skills to use. You probably did remove
something you shouldn't have. Here are some suggestions:

1. If Revo has an Undo feature (and I'm sorry but I don't remember if it
does), use it.

2. If #1 isn't applicable and you ran Revo only in the past few days, do a
System Restore to before that time. To run System Restore, go to the Start
Orb and in the Start Search box type "System Restore" without the quotes.
System Restore will appear in the Programs result. Click on it, allow the
UAC prompt, and follow the wizard.

3. If #2 doesn't work, you can then try the System File Checker to repair
broken system files.

Start Orb>Search box>type: cmd
When cmd appears in Results above, right-click it and choose "Run as
administrator". This will give you an elevated command prompt. At the
prompt, type:

sfc /scannow [enter]

4. If the System File Checker doesn't fix things, install the latest Windows
Installer:

If none of those suggestions works, report back with the results.

Well, you've tried everything to fix your mistake and the system is too
broken. Back up your data and do a clean install of Windows. If you have an
OEM machine (Dell, HP, etc.) with a restore-to-factory-condition option,
use it.
