Just had a major calamity and had to recover the Win XP sp2. Now updates
tells me I have 87 updates and it lists them. I tell it to update and none
install. SO I tried uninstalling Win 3.1 installer and noe IT won't install.
What am I doing wrong?

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update,
from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after
you repair a Windows XP installation
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

(Try it even if you did a clean, not repair, installation.)
(Try it even if you performed some sort of restore - not repair install.)
(Try it even if you did an upgrade installation.)

Do all suggested methods.

Then I suggest you take the same advice already given in this conversation
and likely hundreds like it over the past 6+ months...

Ignore the title if it "doesn't quite fit"...

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update,
from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after
you repair a Windows XP installation

(Try it even if you did a clean, not repair, installation.)

(Try it even if you did an upgrade installation.)

My signature?
Wasn't directed directly towards you - has not changed in years. However -
if you feel you can learn from it - that's why it was put there. ;-)
