On every reboot I get an error message:

Title bar: AllocSharedMemory

Body of message: "no memory in AllocSharedMemory"

Does anybody know what this means?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Peter,

Do you have a integrated graphics chip on your motherboad?

Double check your BIOS settings to see if you have any RAM allocated to
be used for the integrated graphics chip. It may have gotten set to zero
shared memory somehow.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi Shawn & thxs for your response.
No, there is no onboard graphics on my Asus P5B Deluxe Wi-Fi board.
However, problem is not 'solved' but 'eliminated':
Went into msconfig & deleted first all startup programs, then selectively
fewer & fewer. Found that since my last check an Adobe Acrobat executable & a
Canon scanner driver had found their way into my startup ptrograms. Neither
should be there. Eliminated them from startup programs in Defender (running
Vista Ultimate) & the message is gone. Either one of those was the culprit &
they should not have been there in the first place.

Thxs again, Peter K
