Alternate Update Method Without ActiveX and Auto Update?

On my corporate firewall, I have disabled ActiveX because of the problem with
spyware and other threats. Consequently, Windows Update doesn't work. I
then thought maybe I would try the Automatic Updates service, but that is
disabled, for good reason, on our group policy.

Are there any alternative ways of doing these updates, short of downloading
each patch individually? Even if that is the only way, I'd have a hard
time keeping track of what patches I needed.

Any ideas?
