I was given a set of binoculars with built in digital camera "Dual Mode
Camera (8008 VGA)" a bit cheap and nasty but my son really wants them.
I tried installing the software but it is non compatable with vista and the
manufactures sonix technology do not expect to offer updates.
Through problem report I was given the link to windows vista hardware
compatibility list, that is were I come to a grinding halt. I am not sure
what to do with this list of companies.
Can anybody offer me any advise or suggest some alternative software for
these very basic camera/binoculars

Hello Shig

does this connect via USB, if you are lucky when you connect the US
the Camera will appear in the List of Vista Drives, and you can use Dra
and Drop to access images. If you are looking for a free download fo
cameras iI have found CamtoPC to be excellen

'cam2pc - Image Viewer and fully featured Digital Imaging software t
Download, Organize, Modify and Share your photos
(http://www.nabocorp.com/cam2pc/

If the software you have with the device is for XP it may work in Vist
If you reight click on it's Exe file and adjust the Compatibility Mod
options
Even XP drivers have been known to work under vist

You can try Compatibility Mode for the install of the software. Rightclick
the install executable for Properties, and set the compatibility to XP.

If the purpose of the software is to download
images to your hard drive I don't think the
software is required.

Does the camera have a memory card?

Do you have a memory card reader?

The device does'nt have a memory card, does connect by usb but when I plug it
in nothing happens, it tries to install software but gives up when it says
not compatible and the device doesn't show up anywhere, even as unknown
device.

Shig:

You could try installing the drivers using "Run as administrator" and set
the setup.exe to the Compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2.

You no doubt have scoured the web for hints but, if not, try using a search
engine.

'Hope you find an answer,

Saucy

I really appreciate all your help and advise, I am however a novice when it
comes to computers so when you give me these hints like run as administrator
or rightclick the install executable for Properties, unfortunately it goes
right over my head.

They have the name "seal" on them and when windows can't install they come up
as "Dual Mode Camera (8008 VGA)" .

It's a "Sonic" something or other. What?

I suspect that it's an ancient product and that it's a
hopeless/worthless project trying to get it to work.
