Alternative Update Site

Has anybody tried the software at Shavlik.com? It's supposed to be an
alternative to Windows Update. You can have Shavlik's program scan
for needed updates, and have them downloaded and installed.

I'd like some input on how good this alternative is.

I'm not too happy with what MS has done with the WGA stuff.

Fishy, please stick to your original thread here about using Shavlik instead
of Windows Update (no comment) :

May I ask why? I was afraid that not enough people were noticing the
message, since it was under "Shavlik" -- I thought this Subject line
would be better.

I hope Microsoft isn't pressuring you guys. Maybe MS isn't too happy
that there is another site that lets users update for free, and is
secure and competent.

<*(((><

PS: I apologize for ragging on you a couple of months ago. I was
upset because my desktop fried after I installed SP2. Then my laptop
went out, after 5 years. So this summer has been computer hell for
me.

I agree with PA Bear that you should stick to your original thread.
As regards your query, "no comment".

The "no comment" reply tells a whole story. May I ask why you prefer
that there be only one thread for this topic? Especially when there
are multiple threads for other topics?

Because we're neat, tidy folks here and like everything in one place so we
can find it later, because this topic has nothing to do with using Windows
Update, and because this ain't a chat room.

Thank you, I /do/ feel better now.
