Alternative to Windows Updates

If you're just having too much trouble getting Windows Updates to work, you
might try what I've been trying: go to Shavlik.com and get updates from
them. They will have free updates for a few more months. The interface
isn't as easy as the one Microsoft uses, but the updates are the same.

I haven't decided yet whether to stay with Shavlik after the free time
expires; but I've been pleased with it. It scans and lists the updatse I
need, and then I can click on the updates and it takes me straight to the KB
Article. No clicking through and opening other windows and confirming yes
and clicking again and then verifying I am not a thief and then confirming
.....

Just click on the KB number, read the article, and download the update.
