I am recieving this message when i try to send an email:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was 'senders email'. Subject 'Re: Next week?',
Account: 'imap.aol.com', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '553 5.7.1 <>: Sender address rejected: not
owned by user scgentes', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error
Number: 0x800CCC79

AOL/AIM requires you to use a 'From' address that you actually own.
Are you the owner of the email address ?
If so, make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

There is plenty of help here.

Your first step should be to open a "new" thread . . . . .
In your thread please copy and paste any error message(s) you receive in
their entirety . . . . .
Provide the name of your email provider- only the part AFTER the "@" symbol
in your e-address . . . . .
Provide details of any troubleshooting steps you have taken to resolve the
problem . . . . .

You need not be an expert. Many responders are adept at working with
non-technical folks and can walk you through the steps to correct you
problem. If you follow these steps, there's a good chance someone here will
be able to help resolve any issues you may have.
