Am I the only one that thinks that Vista beta2 is nowhere near rea

I have a hard time believing that Vista will be ready for release in January
based on Vista beta2. Other than a new look, I think Vista is a dog without
teeth. And whats with two media centers? I had more problems than good
impressions with it. MS should work on it another 2 years and add some real
value to it, instead of trying to push it out just to have something new out
there.

Beta 2 (5384.4) was horribly flawed, yes. 5536, the pre-RC1, I've been
hearing good reviews for that build. MS will release RC1, publicly, on or
alittle after Sept. 7th through the customer preview program. I'm going to
reserve my judgement till I get RC1. Two-years is alittle exessive, but yes;
there has been alot of talk from mvp's, testers, and some internal (blogs
from teammembers) to hold vista till mid 2007.

'Fiji' the minor upgrade for NT6.0 will, or rather, should be seeing the
light of day around 2009-2010. 'Fiji' is to Vista, as XP is to Win2000.

Believe you and me, when I get RC1, I'll run that puppy into the ground. If
it doesn't hold up, I'll wait to see how 'Fiji' turns out.

I would think fiji to be like vista second edition........

Vienna is the next MAJOR relase. Reason i put that in caps is cuz I heard
stories that the code will be rewriten from scratch and the whole core will
be rebulit from scratch...

yeah, 'Fiji' is Vista R2, or saying it another way, 'Fiji' is a minor update
to the NT 6.0 kernal.

I too remember reading that 'Vienna' will be written from scratch. But I
think that may have been misinterputed. 'Vienna' (supposely) is to be the
last of the NT family (NT7.0). After 'Vienna' the next major release is said
to be a whole new kernal build (as far as I know, yet to be named or talked
about). So I am thinking that 'Vienna' will build on the NT6.0 kernal, but
will be a different interface. I don't know, we are talking (possibly) 7
years into the future. Have to wait for a few years for info to start
clearing up.
