Hello everyone.

McAfee has identified an issue with their antivirus interacting poorly with
Windows Update. This problem is specific only to those who are updating
perpetually the same updates, and have McAfee VirusScan antivirus scanner
installed. They do have a hotfix for immediate need, and will post a patch
that will be available shortly.

For the very short term, McAfee and Microsoft invite you to contact McAfee
support at the following link, and ask for KB 39752:
http://www.mcafeesecurity.com/us/sup...nical_support/ <-- remember
that this is NOT a direct link.

I will follow up this posting with another link that will be live very soon.

Sincerely,

Pat Walters [MSFT]

"McAfee VirusScan antivirus scanner" is a broad statement. What version are you talking
about ?

Corporate v4.5.1 SP1
Enterprise v7.0, v7.1
Enterprise v8.0i
or
Retail v6, v7, v8 or v9

You really have provided very little information !

I am also surprised you (or someone else) have not posted this in...

microsoft.public.scripting.virus.discussion
microsoft.public.security.virus

OKAY.
IM HIGHLY ****ED OFF.

I downloaded the new updated that was needed "kb890175", supposely a
security update windowsxp NEEDED.

well, ever since I have downloaded that file ive had nothing but PROBLEMS
with my computer.. lastnight and today.

Today my "VirusScan" does NOT work. I can NOT enable it!!!!
I don't even know if the scanner I use is a McAfee but I dont appreciate
downloading a file from microsoft and my pc start messing up and files start
missing.

More details are needed...in a NEW THREAD.
You need to know your anti virus so you can tell us.
Other details such as:
Operating system
Exact error message
Exactly what happens
Etc
Post this in a new thread and someone will probably be able to help.
