Hello,

I've seen the previous posts on 10-11 and 10-12.
I have the same error on a friends computer. She does, however has Norton
360 installed and up to date.
Could it still be a virus? I turned off the firewall, and non-MS services,
still the same error. Uninstalled Ad-aware.
Created a new user. Re-registered winupdate dll's.

Does the same post apply to this, or is there anything else I could try
first?

Is it possible to take the windows update files from a "healthy" computer
and put them on the friend's?

Thank you.

*** Which edition of Windows and what Service Pack level is it at ? ***

Please try another attempt at updating.
If/when it fails, open the WindowsUpdate.log (WU.log)and copy&paste at
least the
*last* 50 or so lines of it into your next post:

How to read the Windowsupdate.log file
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093

It *sounds* like the latest release of the Windows Update Agent failed
to install properly thus the communication issue with the update
servers. Without seeing the WU.log, that's just an uneducated guess.
